Clown

Originally through film photography then moving into digital photography and video, I began exploring different clown characters. At the time of my first self portraits in this style, I was living with an abusive partner, processing the diagnosis of a chronic illness, and experiencing the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder in full force for the first time.

I was originally inspired by Cindy Sherman’s self portraits and Jenny Drumgoole’s Soxx.

The final photo in the gallery below was collaged and edited by Wit López for an exhibition inspired by Baroness Elsa that was shown in Toronto and Philadelphia.
